ORGL Leadership Plan

Sharing

When you are ready to share your portfolio with an instructor, classmate, colleague, family member, or the world, you have a couple of options. Either option will give you a link to copy & paste in Blackboard.

Option 1: a public link

Remember, your portfolio is a website. By sharing publicly you will have a valid link that you can share in Blackboard, in an email,  on LinkedIn, etc.
  1. While you are editing your portfolio, click on the SHARING tab in the header menu
  2. Select the Share Publicly option
  3. Enter the text for your link - it is a valid link when the red x turns into a green check-mark
  4. Copy the link and share where you would like

Option 2: a private link

If you do not want any chance of Google finding your portfolio, you can use a private link to share with individuals.
  1. While you are editing your portfolio, click on the SHARING tab in the header menu
  2. Select the Share Privately option
  3. Fill out the private share page with the recipients information
Suggestion: If you follow the steps designed by the Foliotek program for a private share, it's important to know that the private link will be sent by an email branded by and from Foliotek. This day and age, people tend not to click on links from unknown email sources; therefore, we prefer to send a personalized message from our own email. We "share privately" with ourselves, receive the emailed link from Foliotek, copy/paste it into a personal email, and then send it to professors, employers/recruiters, colleagues, etc.

 3. Fill out the private share page with your  information - share with yourself!
 4. You will receive an email from Foliotek with a link that you can then copy and share as you like - the link is live, but still private and cannot be found by a search engine like Google

Note on continuing to edit after sharing

You can continue to edit your portfolio after you share it, but if you want the edits to be visible to those you shared with, you must click on the SAVE button as well as the PUBLISH CHANGES button.

Publish Changes syncs up all new edits with the shared content.
